Isle of Skye Photography
I was told throughout university that I should avoid photographing weddings; you see, wedding photography is sort of seen as a last resort for failing photographers. Not only that, I was always told it was a very bitchy community. You know what? I call absolute bullshit on that, I’ve been part of various photography communities and those in the wedding industry are always the most willing to help, and more often than not, the most talented.
Katie was asked by Rosie of Love Skye Photography if she’d like to dog sit for her, while her family enjoyed a holiday. Being a massive dog lover, travel addict, and of course Katie’s other half… Well… I couldn’t let her go on her own could I? Knowing we had a few days in the Isle Of Skye, I posted in a photography group asking if any other photographers would be up for a shoot swap, and that’s when the lovely Zoe Emilie got in touch. Zoe is a new, up and coming, wedding photographer based near Alnwick. When she said she’d love to join us with her husband, Peter, to exchange in a shoot swap, I was over the moon! What an adorable couple, and Zoe is an immensely talented photographer who will no doubt go very far in her career! I have to say I was a little nervous, though! The Twins shot their wedding, so the pressure was real!
Now all of this ties into my original point, another wedding photographer, Rosie, asked us to look after their family home and pets, whilst they went away. On top of that, she even sent an elopement our way (which I’ll be blogging soon!). Now if this was such a bitchy community, why would anyone do that? In fact, since day one, I’ve been very lucky to have help from some of the best photographers in the North East, and I’d even go as far as saying, in the UK.
I love my job, the community I’m a part of, the wedding industry, and everything else related. I get to meet new people all the time, travel, and generally enjoy life whilst I’m working. How many people can say that? Some of my closest friends are fellow wedding photographers, and it’s amazing!
Thank you Rosie, for welcoming us to your home, and giving us the opportunity you did. I’m still missing Shadow, Toby & Tess! Thank you Zoe & Peter for being absolutely adorable, and travelling all that way just for a shoot swap! It’s all truly appreciated!
If you’d like to book me for your Isle Of Skye Elopement Photography, then get in touch. I’d love to be part of your adventures!
